today is a tragic day for all the members of the Gaw fish family:
miss strawberry, my baby pink fish, has jumped out of my aquarium and plunged to her death amongst a pile of oranges at 23:20 pm today. All the fishes in the tank shall mourn her tragic death.

Obsessed with
The Economist's new magazine
Intelligent Life. It encompasses so much and its the first magazine that I'm actually reading from cover to cover. Check this out. There is an article called
The four facets of chic and it talks about high couture and luxury brands losing their elite status and exclusivity as they become more accessible. It says,
"In the real world, traditional luxury brands, one just for the really rich, are increasingly making their way into the hands of ordinary folk
- a kind of democratisation of luxury." As it explained itself, it made even more sense. Benz and Beamers used to be such a dream car but how many can you count that are driven on the streets today? almost every corner has a benz owner. Students now buy tiffany jewelry for each toerh and Armani can be found in a local mall. Karl Lagerfeld, the prestigious designer of chanel now designs of H&M as well. Burberry lost 10% of its clients because it got too popular and LV spent $16M battling fake bags. Is the price of luxury slowly deteriorating? The article also mentioned that the luxury is not about owning the latest Hermes bag but now about freedom from time and space and complete silence. I'm not sure about what I think about this topic yet. Yes, it seems to be a good thing because those said-to-be luxurious items are more affordable and accessible but then could it also be a sign that people are getting to materialistic as well? As if its people's aim to gain all these? It said that the sales of women's accessories grew 20-25% to $4 billion in America alone! and coach's regular consumers buy almost 4 bags per year. ( lol ) Okay, maybe I may be hypocritical as I myself am subject to materialism. I am victim to these objects of haute couture. But this article kinda gave me a perspective of what kind of society we're actually living in today, including myself. Honestly, I don't have a really good opinion on this and frankly I am biased. But is luxury in material things, based on the name and its status, a good thing?? Does everyone secretly want to live a luxurious life???

yesterday, I kept staying a couple minutes so I didn't get home when my mom was calling me to. I didnt realize why? yesterday, my mom stood on a glass table to fix the air con in the office and the glass broke. She fell right through and the glass shattered. Her ribs hit the steel bar and then she was lying on top of the glass. She has cuts and bruises everywhere and she can barely walk without her ribs hurting. If i had known, I would've left so much sooner. Im really worried about her. Please pray for her health and well being because she is probably the most important person right now.
well, a great start to a birthday wouldn't you say??

It is my belief... that the truth is generally preferable to lies.

I'm currently reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Wow, its honestly taking me forever because there's so much detail to it. You have to really focus to get the message. Its about the wife and four daughters of a missionary and their life in Congo during the revolution. One thing that bugged me was Nathan Price's faith. ALthough i havn't finished the book, this is what i got from it so far. Nathan's faith is enormous! To the extent that he believes that because he's in COngo suffering for God, God will reward him. The whole country is going into chaos and their mission help has already abandoned them since Nathan refused to leave the country with his family. INstead, he decided to stay in Congo without any funds, without any proper knowledge of the culture and with the inapparent danger becoming more of a threat everyday. His youngest daughter is dying, his wife is really sick, his other three daughters have suffered so much and he doesn't do anything to help. He spends his time trying to force Christianity to the people when it isn't working. Yet he depends so much on his faith in the Lord. Its like he abandoned trying in life because he believes that since he's doing a good thing, God will automatically reward him. Is that what faith is? disregarding all your common sense and leaving it all up to God to do all the work when everything around you is disintegrating? When faced with the choice of doing what you know you should be doing or doing nothing and leaving it all up to God what would you do? Is that how God wants us to be faithful? I found myself really thinking about this. I know i should leave my entire life to God and be whatever he wants me to be, but am I really willing to abandon all my senses of living? I found it really hard to accept this although I knew that ultimately that's what I have to do. Rely on God fully. When faced with a situation where everything is going downhill, like the loss of your family, job loss, disease, divorce, break up, and other situations like that, am I really willing to say, "Yes Lord, it was your will, and I have faith in you!" or will I think more practically? I know the answer is there but the action itself is much harder than I realized. I guess this book is really challenging me in more aspects than I expected.

okay.. so yesterday was LOADS of fun!!! makati is awesome.. lol.. we go to rockwell first and wow do i love this mall!!! hehe.. didn't plan on buying anything but rings but yes, kayce brings me into beauty bar and stays for a while. The problem with me is, i wont buy stuff if i just browse around but when you leave me in a store past that 10 minute mark, then im history! i start really browsing and start liking stuff!!! not cool at all. i became obsessed with this grapefruit collection: butter, scrub, gel and others. Then i couldn't part ways with it so i ended up getting it. Kayceee didn't say no so nothing prevented me!!! not cool... i did end up getting a free notebook! it kinda looks like a jordi labanda notebook but not really. anyways.. kayce had to drag me out of the store!!! aiyeee!!!
went to another mall, greenbelt, afterwards. First we went in this strip of the high end designers coz my mom wanted a gucci bag that wasn't available in toronto yet. So we go in, we browse. Kaycee fell in love with these GORGEOUS sandles that looked amazing on her!!! lol.. i found the bag and called my mom. So my mom told me to buy it. Gave the card, then the lady was like, can i see some id. I gave it, but since its my mom's card i couldn't exactly sign for it although i have been for the past 3 years. the lady had to call the bank and ask for verification and even then they wouldn't let me sign it! i started getting pissed off! i was like.. dude!!! im a customer and you won't let me buy a bag!!! you just lost money today hun! and i stormed off! but my mom really wanted te bag so she activated a card for me and i went back in. The ladies then treated me and kc so well. They asked if we wanted a drink, we asked for water and got
bottled water in wine glasses with ice in a tray!!! lol!! it was great.... but then yeah, i finally got the bag. anyways.. we walked around a little more, then went to glorietta coz i was still in search for the perfect ring. oooh.. saw a store that sold birks so i decided to get me a pair. I was also in the hunt for a white tee. so when i bought the birks, itcame with a free white tee!! man.. it was wonderful to get all these free stuff!!! lol.. bought two more shirts and that was my day. shopping with kc is fun!!! another day of shopping today for MEEE!!!!

here's a link:
http://www.shangrila-plaza.com/yes and its gorgeous! the whole 5th floor is called youth zone and i loved all the stores there!!! LOL.... went to human and bought this funky belt thing for rob coz he said he wanted something metal... LOL! then i walked around the entire mall.. got new nike shoes, bought my mom a pashmina from anna pashmina! LOL.. then browsed around kenneth cole, burberry and the like but i didn't get anything.. :( LOL! had lunch at this little cafe called le couer de france and it has the best tuna turnovers! YUM!!! i honestly love that mall! it was great, but sadly, too overpriced for my budget so i decided to switch malls...
i went to the super mall next store called megamall... and yes.. more shopping! WHOHOO! lol.. went to gene gozum and got capris for my mom, then i bought an engraving, then chains, then two shirts... sadly, everything i got at this mall barely passes the $50 mark! for everything!!! LOL.. isn't it great! after shopping, i stopped by the skating rink to say hi to people.. saw coach nardy! great times with this "guy", "girl", uhh.. it.. i remember we were in hong kong in 98 and at the hotel he started singing ariel (little mermaid)'s ahhhhhh song.. LOL..yeah.. reminiscing those times are great.. saw ronan too! awww.. i miss this "it" too... he's great!! and he looks great too! hehehe.. didn't see dale and them though.. yeah.. from this day i was exhausted... lol... went straight home..

mabuhay from the land of the hot and humid!
wow.. done a lot since i came last monday... hehe... its quite fun yet also quite boring especially now since im stuck at home with a cold.. :( I think I caught it from someone.. lol..
well, what have i done here... on tuesday, I went for my salon day so i had the works! massage, manicure, pedicure, footbath, highlights, and styling. LOL.. it was great coz danny, the stylist from before was there and he's gay. So it was soo cool, he was like.. |OMG.. AIVORY! HOW YOU DARLING!!! You look soo different! omg what magazine is that! OMG.. he's so guapo (handsome) look oh aivory! this is my future husband! " then he takes his camera phone and starts snapping pictures of this guy in the magazine.. i couldn't stop laughing.. LOL! it was great.. anyways.. I've been driving myself around here so its good.. Im getting used to the no lane policy where you inch your way around everywhere and people do the same. This is seriously the only country where the maximum speed you can go is 60 and you can make a left turn from the right most lane and cause traffic.. ITS GREAT.. lol..
well, wednesday, i went out with kc for the whole day.. met her at gale for lunch.. basically, she's working at the international women's volleybal grand prix so we did a bunch of errands that day.. it was fun just bonding and spending a lot of time together... LOL.. catching up on guys and stuff... LOL ryt kc? similar no?? its insane... yeah... robinsons changed a lot.. i actually havn't done much shopping yet... ! oh well.. still got a week..
thursday, i went to gale to pick up kc and olie to go to the airport and pick up dan coz he was gonna come visit. omg.. that ride was freaking hilarious!!! we circled the entire airport like 6 times that the guards thought we were mental cases or something.. then we flirted with the guards for them to give us their stop signs that they held up but they wouldn't give it to us!!! LOL... then we had to flirt with another guard so that we could park in the area, but that didn't work either.. but it was sooo jokes.. I LOVE YOU KC AND OLIE!! good times good times... on the way back, dan was scared coz of the country.. honestly, its the only country where you can find bright pink male urinals at the side... while i was busy on the road and trying to survive the driving, kc and olie tried to introduce dan to the new country.. LOL.. it was freaking hilarious!!!!! anyways... went shopping at gale againa and ate dinner at bacolod chicken..
friday, nothing much, more shopping at podium and megamall.. omg.. there's this restaurant that combined filipino food with japanese cuisine so you've got like tocinodon and gambas sushi.. IT WAS GREAT! lol... did my shopping spree at genevieve gozum... yeah.. ladies there were interesting.. LOL!!! bought quite a few stuff but it ended up being only 143 CAD.. LOL.. life here is great... anyways.. went for a massage after then went home early coz kc had a game to go to..
saturday? can't remember what i did, i know i attended my dads meeting at this hotel with funky chinese food.. then i went to gale to find kc. we went for dinner at greenbelt the we went clubbin i guess? although the club was small, it was cool. KC's boyfriend knows everyone! so we got in for free.. LOL.. it was fun.. cool music and stuff.. don't worry.. aivory was a good girl. LOL.. and i left really early to go home too.. anyways... now im sick.. and it sucks... stuck at home doing nothing.. quite boring too.. and i feel the pounds gaining on me.. this sucks.. anyways.. to whoever still reads my blog.. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
ciao bellas and bellos
