Today was alright... English was boring... went over that Love story of Alfred Prucock... he's some messed up dude who needs to profess his love! hahaha.. but sadly, it does reflect on everyone because each one of us is afraid of letting people know our true self and taking chances... Funny how that worked out.. Bible was fun.. sorta.. hahaha " the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing" haha.. how stupid... and calc was great! coz i got my average and its soo much better than I thought it was.. ... yearbook was soo funny.. me and drii were trying, more like attempting to interview possible assistant editors.. but that didn't work out too well since we really suck at interviewing... anyways... law was boring as hell!!! grrr.. and economics test.. oh what a joke! hahahaha... that was actually really funny and apparently I'm the only one who did the assignment right because I highlighted the statements in the article.. hahahaha.. what a joke.. anyways...
skating was alright... no stress, no pressure, good skating... I even don't care about what's going on around the rink anymore.. the rumours, the backstabbing.. WHO CARES! I don't care about what they say about me, I don't care what they think because... they suck anyways and have no life... YAY! i love this new attitude.. even lectured my mom on it... team granite today.. Sheilach Croxen was the speaker and she's the head coach of the national synchronized swimming team that won bronze in Sydney.. pretty cool... learned lotsa stuff about sport in general and how we should really look at it and what she taught her team.. it wasn't as bad as I thought...
here are the highlights :
"When you aim for perfection you discover that it's a moving target"
-take risks, strive for innovation
-breaking down the belief barriers and building our belief
-Know and believe that you have worked hard
-reflect on your strengths
-fake it till you make it (confidence)
"About 90% of things in your lives are right and about 10% are wrong. If we want to be happy, we need to concentrate on the 90% that are right and ignore the 10% that are wrong"
-develop a pride in your work and a love for what you are performing.. (need to learn this)
-learn to look at setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow, everything happens for a reason
-Dare to dream the big dream, the sun will still shine tomorrow
- alteration, even to one degree, can make a huge difference
and the questions were interesting because they basically summed up what I have been feeling for myself lately
Anticipating Self-Sabotage
1." I'm my own worst enemy when..."
I think too much about what I'm doing and I let other peoples reactions to me affect how I act. When I think about other people, that's when I go downhill and fall apart.
2."I can avoid these pitfalls by..."
Thinking I'm in a fishbowl! I need to learn to trust myself more and let my body do what it has been trained to do. I need to learn to separate others from myself and not let them affect me. I need to learn to skate for myself, enjoy it because I love it and not because others are forcing me to skate. I need to isolate my thoughts to only myself and not let other people's opinions bother me.
3."and asking these people to help me stay on track..."
Thanks BRIT!!! thanks for the fishbowl, thanks JO for just being there and helping me through...
also, I learned that Quality = infinity and there is no limit to the amount of quality you can improve each time.. if you just improve by 1% per hour, by 100 hours you would have improved 100%.
and to sum it up...
The Eagle and The Wolf
there is a great battle that rages inside of me.
one side is the soaring eagle.
everything the eagle stands for is good and true and beautiful
and it soars above the clouds.
even though it dips down in the valleys,
it lays its eggs on the mountaintop
the other side of me is the howling wolf
and that raging howling wolf
represents the very worse that is inside of me.
He eats upon my downfalls and justifies himself
by his presence in the pack
who wins the battle?
the one I feed.
overall, it was a really good seminar coz it was really interesting to hear her standpoint especially coming from a position of such high standing... hope they're all like this...
